Who We Are

The Gap We Close

IDS was founded by researchers and engineers who believe that operational data, when properly structured and governed, becomes a lasting strategic asset. Built on research. Focused on results.

We kept seeing the same problem: organizations rich in operational data, aware that AI could transform how they compete, but stuck between consultants who talk and developers who only build what is specced out for them.

The options available were all broken in the same way. Consulting firms produced strategy decks nobody could execute. Development shops built what they were told without asking whether it was the right thing to build. Hiring a full-time CTO ahead of a clear roadmap was a costly way to learn what you actually needed. And doing nothing meant watching competitors who got their data working make better decisions, faster.

We built IDS to close that gap. Our strategy layer is grounded in academic research on how technology actually reshapes industries over time, not in vendor roadmaps or hype cycles. That foundation means we understand the difference between a technology that will create durable competitive advantage and one that will not. It also means we can recommend architectures with confidence, because our reasoning is based on evidence, not intuition.

Our engineering team translates that strategy into working systems. One team holds both ends of the equation, from the first conversation about where your organization is going to the systems running in production that get you there. No handoffs between firms that do not share context. No gap between what gets recommended and what gets built.

We work exclusively with Canadian talent. Our engagement model is deliberately structured: fixed-fee projects with defined deliverables, retainer arrangements that scale without lock-ins, and a consistent preference for incremental progress that can be verified over speculative projects that cannot.

AI is the destination. Solid foundations are the path.

We do not sell AI as a magic wand. We build the data infrastructure that makes AI reliable — clean pipelines, structured data, well-designed architecture — and then we take you there. The organizations that win the AI era will be the ones whose operational data became a genuine strategic asset.

Strategy grounded in research, not trend-chasing.

Our technology strategy is informed by how disruption actually unfolds across industries — not by vendor roadmaps or hype cycles. We understand the difference between a technology that will reshape an industry and one that will fade. That distinction is the product of research, not intuition.

Pragmatic, incremental progress over speculative projects.

We favor progress you can verify. Every engagement builds toward a working system — not a deliverable that requires another engagement to implement. We tell clients honestly what to build, what to leave alone, and what to do first.

How We Think

Our Principles

Every technology engagement involves tradeoffs: between speed and durability, between what is technically possible and what is actually worth building, between the tools that are popular right now and the architectures that will hold up over time.

These are not values we put on a wall. They are the commitments that shape how we navigate those tradeoffs on every engagement, and the reason our clients can trust that what we recommend is what we would build if it were our own organization.

Exploring a Partnership or Grant Opportunity?

Whether you are a mid-market company with untapped operational data, a government organization modernizing a data function, or a research institution looking for an implementation partner — a 30-minute conversation is enough to know if there is a strong fit.
